STATEMENT FROM TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER SID MILLER APPLAUDING THE ANNOUNCED EPA REWRITE OF WOTUS
Friday, March 14, 2025, The Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule has long been a thorn in the side of rural America. But now, President Trump and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin are taking decisive action for the American people. Not only have they reclaimed $20 billion of taxpayer money from the Biden administration’s radical climate agenda, but they aim to finally narrow the scope of WOTUS in alignment with the recent Sackett v. EPA ruling—a major victory for rural communities. [More]

STATEMENT FROM TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER SID MILLER ON USDA’S LOCAL FOOD FUNDING CUTS FOR SCHOOLS AND FOOD BANKS
Thursday, March 13, 2025, I recognize that the USDA’s budget cuts are intended to eliminate fraud, abuse, and waste. However, even well-functioning programs that deliver real results are undergoing reviews to ensure fairness. These changes also provide an opportunity for states to assume greater responsibility in shaping their own programs. Texas and the Texas Department of Agriculture do not depend on this funding to maintain a strong program. We’ve been at the forefront for years, developing sustainable initiatives. [More]

STATEMENT FROM COMMISSIONER SID MILLER APPLAUDING PRESIDENT TRUMP’S DELAY OF TARIFFS ON KEY AGRICULTURE COMMODITIES
Friday, March 7, 2025, I applaud President Trump’s decision to delay tariffs on Mexican and Canadian agricultural commodities and products included in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). This decision will provide more time for open negotiation with both countries and, most importantly, provide short-term relief and time for our agricultural producers. I also fully support President Trump’s initiative to leverage tariffs to restore fair and equitable trade agreements that benefit Americans. His ongoing tariff strategy will strengthen domestic production, attract new investments, spur job growth, and ultimately reduce costs for American consumers. While there will be a short-term adjustment period—undoubtedly challenging for farmers already facing hardships—our agricultural industry will emerge stronger and more resilient than ever. [More]
