STATEMENT BY COMMISSIONER SID MILLER BACKING TRUMP’S LIBERATION DAY ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW TARIFFS
Thursday, April 3, 2025, President Trump doesn’t often hold back—and yesterday was no exception. The world is quickly realizing that in his second term, you either strike a fair deal or face the consequences. These tariffs mark a bold step toward ensuring that American farmers, ranchers, and producers are no longer subjected to unfair trade practices. The goal is clear: to reverse decades of one-sided agreements and secure fair, equitable deals for all U.S. industries—not just agriculture. Our president has proven yet again that he keeps his promises. [More]

Friday, March 28, 2025, Texas leads the nation in beef production, generating billions for our economy and putting the best steaks on dinner plates across America. It’s about time we had a signature Texas cut to match. I fully support SCR 26 and HCR 101 and commend the Texas Legislature for making this happen. A proper Texas cut wouldn’t just showcase our beef but cement our place as the global leader in top-quality cattle production. Rest assured, the Texas Department of Agriculture stands ready to market and promote the chosen cut, not just in Texas but worldwide. [More]

COMMISSIONER SID MILLER COMMENDS PASSAGE OF SENATE RESOLUTION TO URGE DIPLOMATIC ENFORCEMENT OF THE U.S.-MEXICO WATER TREATY
Friday, March 21, 2025, I commend Senator Adam Hinojosa and the Texas Senate for taking decisive action to address Mexico’s ongoing failure to meet its water obligations under the 1944 U.S.-Mexico Water Treaty. The passage of Senate Concurrent Resolution 13 sends a strong and clear message that Texas will not stand by while our farmers, ranchers, and rural communities suffer from water shortages. Agriculture is the backbone of the Rio Grande Valley’s economy, and ensuring a reliable water supply is critical to protecting the livelihoods of the hardworking men and women who feed and clothe our state and nation. COMMISSIONER SID MILLER URGES TEXAS HOUSE PASS SEN. LOIS KOLKHORST’S PROPOSED BAN OF FOREIGN LAND PURCHASING
Thursday, March 20, 2025, The security of our land is synonymous with the security of our state and nation. Texas's vast agricultural resources, critical infrastructure, and water rights must be protected from foreign adversaries who do not prioritize our best interests. Texas Senator Lois Kolkhorst’s Senate Bill 17 is a crucial measure to ensure that Texas land remains in the hands of Texans, not hostile foreign entities. This bipartisan, common-sense legislation deserves to advance through the Texas House and become law. [More]
